DS9 premiered in 1992 and ran for seven seasons (1999). You're no doubt thinking of Voyager.

Is it just me or did the startrek incarnations get worse each time. Granted i never saw the original (before my time) but New generation was great, DS9 reasonable, voyager a bit sappy and enterprise just plain wank

No, because if you actually rewatch Next Generation you'll realise just how bad it is in comparison to the awesome DS9 and somewhat-varied Voyager. Patrick Stewart carrys the whole show.

patrick stewart is a legend if you need any more proof just look at him in american dad.

Somehow I don't think his semi-regular cameos in American Dad will be ranked up amongst his greatest achievements in years to come... That's like saying "if you need any proof of how great Kelsey Grammer is, look no further than his work as Sideshow Bob". >_>

In other, rather ironic news, Channel 4 have just dished out £900,000 per episode to buy series 3 and 4 of Desperate Housewives.
I have to laugh.

why are they worth so much? how do tv companies make that much money? adverts and Big brother can't rake in THAT much cash?

At tens of thousands of pounds for a 20 second advert, yeah they can.
