Audience figures falling? Prices escalating? Channel 4 cuts and runs? Yeah, unsurprisingly Lost is a victim of its own hype.

if you ask me channel 4 are smart and sky are idiots for investing in lost season 3 and 4 when ratings are dropping like that bring back futurama instead bet that had higher ratings.

Examining and comparing viewing figures is not the same as 'dissing' a show.

although viewing figures maybe be lower than futurama, i bet DVD sales are higher, simply because Lost fans are gonna be more obsessive

I wouldn't think so. Futurama fans are pretty damn obsessive (the quoting, anyone?), plus the episodes have more of a 'rewatch' value than Lost's would. Not to mention that the boxsets are so often on sale for cheap at HMV etc. Besides, the general guideline is always "more viewers = bigger market = more DVD sales".

plus lost dvds come in stupid two part sections or ridiculously overpriced.

they're the same price as any other 26x 45minutes american tv show box set, what are you talking about?

The 2 part bit is silly, I'll say that. As for price...yeah, it's about the same. Although it would be better if they didn't bank on people's impatience by releasing it in two £25 parts and just in one £40 part instead that'd be better.

doesn't any other series do that? Buffy used to do it... probably because of the ludicrous vhs set sizes... and dont even get me started on old £90-a-series farscape...

All I know is that DS9 released total series for £45 each perfectly happily. Some others probably do, but that just means that they're being unnecessary as well.

isn't that in retrospect though? I think most DVD's that have come out whilst the series is showing have come out in half-seasons...
plus DS9 is about a decade old now, of course its cheaper...

Well, Enterprise then. That came out when the series was showing and is priced the same. I just said DS9 because it's the one I own.
