i didn't notice anything about the bridge, but i did notice the striped shirt thing. however, i figured it was just the use of a fill pattern, and i couldn't blame you for trying to make things easier on yourself. besides, i thought the way the lines defied dan's movement and remained the same was funny

Which is why I thought "magical faerie fabrics" =^-^=
That and tongue-in-cheek comments Em made on the tagboard which I took seriously. ^^;;
Interesting... so, Kaeti lost control with a sudden and very wet awakening.

Interesting. So Keti can still be shocked back into being "herself." I'm not even going to try asking how that works, because I'm sure I'd just eventually end up more confused as things go along. I admit, dumping her in the river seems a bit cruel, but it is better than trying to carry her bound and gagged for the rest of the trip. Smelly and full of otters. Why would a river be smelly? Usually river water is considered relatively fresh, as water sources go. Well, no matter. Otters are cute, though. So, is Keti going to die of mortification on the spot, or will she just jump back in the river?

Kaeti was probably controlling Keti by the barest of margins. The "sudden shock" of being woken up in such a fashion probably let Kwhati regain control.
And I don't see dumping Keti in the river as cruel. There was something wrong, and they tried to "shock her" back to normal. Cruel would be ignoring Kaeti or humiliating her verbally and emotionally. This was no crueler than slapping someone to try and stop hysterics.
But then, I'm a cold cruel heartless person. ^^;;

Actually- I wonder that myself Nayru, as Ally didn't mention it in the script. Now Kaeti 'knocked out' the majority personality in order to take control, but she's still only 25%, at least equal to wolf-keti (who obviously couldn't be bothered to stop her, she has other priorities)- so her control would have been tenous at best. Falling asleep may have been all it took for comittee control to be restored. Maybe that was 'Normal' Keti that got thrown into the river.

Considering the little smile on Keti's face when she was asleep? I'd say Kaeti was still in control. But it was one of those things where the smallest shocks would have stopped it. Right when she was waking up, Kwhati was probably reasserting control.

im still trying to get my head round these pet names for her multople personality disorder lol

It's simple. ^^
Keti's Fae Fourth is Kaeti Her Human Half is Hwhati and her Canid Quarter is Cutie.
See? Simple! =^-^=
And actually, the use of different names for different personae in MPD (in fiction) is a long-running tradition. Each "personality" is its "own person" and thus identifies itself by its own name. (In RL, there is still debate if MPD is real or something some psychiatrist came up with.)

Oh no one is using khwati and Cutie except you, Tangent I think human half and Canid quarter are a bit more descriptive, although I do like Kaeti.

Heh. Yeah. I like Kaeti as well. The other two could probably get tossed. But I'm stubborn. I am curious though as to how dangerous Keti's "disorder" is if Kaeti is on the razor's edge of control. Well, naturally if Kaeti and Cutie work together... but they are something of polar opposites (does that make humanity the fulcrum, halfway between the instinctiveness of the Canid, and the generic nature of the fae?) so how often would they work together and override Keti's human aspect? I must admit some curiosity as to how much of Keti is her Human aspect. Is she going to start acting less instinctively and be more fumbling because her Canid aspect has to "convince" Keti's human half to act thus? Thus causing an initial stumble as she hesitates? While the two of you have already mapped out this "book" I must admit it would be intriguing to see just what it is about her Canid and Fae aspects that make Keti Keti... and the alienness of Keti as a "mere human" to her friends. Because none of the three aspects are truly Keti. Instead, each is part of the whole... and without those bits, you have an incomplete person. (Which of course moves back to my belief that Keti is a "balanced" character and that the reintegration of these three aspects of Keti are an important part of Footloose as a whole.)

(and more thoughts on this):
Of course, this brings up another interesting question: what if Keti is not split into three aspects? Remember how confused Keti was when she "woke" in the "mindscape" and found her ears were rounded and she had a subtly different body? If her "human half" was distinct from her "fae fourth" and "canid quarter" then shouldn't she have realized this upon wakening? Instead, there was that moment of confusion and of not knowing why she was different.
In truth, she has not changed. Keti is still Keti. However, MGDS causes insanity by bringing into question as to the very nature of the person. By introducing Keti to "Kaeti" and "Cutie" she was led to question her very identity, and to thus suppress aspects of herself. But suppressing emotion and behavior is not healthy. It is this which leads to the insanity; the Sword of Slayskull just introduces imaginary aspects which will result in Keti questioning who and what she is.
The reason that Beansprout was so dangerous was that her "fae half" was able to gain control, but it was a creation of the Sword, which is not good.
Of course, that raises into question why other "villains" with MGDS turned bad. Were they also exposed to the Sword? Or did their previous "bad side" just manage to regain control despite the moderating aspect of the less evil fae aspect?
Looking back at Keti, her initial manifestations of MGDS were shoulder sprites of Jin and Daniel. Not exactly evil now, are they? Which suggests then that MGDS is itself benign (if perhaps disturbing to those around the nutter), but that suppression of one's own true self leads to malignant behaviors that can be a threat to others.

Man. I get metaphysical concerning Keti's state of mind and it kills the thread. ^^;;
BTW, should we start dividing up the Footloose discussions into chapter-specific threads? Especially as we've more people showing up here now?

Man. I get metaphysical concerning Keti's state of mind and it kills the thread. ^^;; I'm thinking I should avoid theorizing more about Keti's personality(ies) and state of mind. Anything we manage to get Emily or Ally to say will just confuse me more later when something comes along that seems to contradict it. Take now, for instance. Keti seems to have returned to "normal" after the little dunking experiment, but that suggests that her normal personality still exists independent of those three arguing racial personifications in her head. If I theorize too much about that, Em or Ally will show up to either say I'm wrong or say I'm right and clarify a bit, and in both cases I'm almost certain there will be a later comic that seems to contradict my understanding of things, and I'll be left either feeling like they lied to me, or that they don't actually know the details of their own comic. The only safe way to avoid that situation is to not theorize about that subject at all. I suspect I'll be able to keep that up for either two weeks, or until the next comic comes out, whichever happens first.

They got out of the habit of trying to clarify things around me. Something about several successful Speculations on my part (to the point they hinted that if they ever find my Speculation Array they're going to throw some werewolf coffee into it =^-^=). They might obfuscate to have fun with us, but they appear to have a fairly firm grasp on their characters. Though it helps that Ally mapped out the story ahead of time; working from a script is easier than writing things on the fly.
So theorize away. =^-^=

Though it helps that Ally mapped out the story ahead of time; working from a script is easier than writing things on the fly. So theorize away. =^-^= Well, we were told that Keti was essentially functioning "by committee" before the nymph started swinging two-by-fours. But this response of Keti becoming herself again after being thrown in the water does not make sense by that interpretation. The shock of freezing water can snap people out of certain mental states, but that's because they have something to snap TOO. If Keti really has been split into three seperate individuals, she would no longer have a default "Keti" personality to be brought back with something like this. The interpretation that seems to make more sense to me right now is kind of like what you proposed, but with one or two changes. Basically, it's that Keti hasn't actually been split into three different people, but rather that three seperate personalities have been externally imposed upon her. Thus, Keti now has FOUR personalities in her head. The "real" Keti still exists as her own person; she just has a chance of being overwhelmed every once in a while by these artificial personality constructs the sword foisted off on her.
