Maybe if we divide up the "Those creations with which we tinker" section into one for arts, one for comics (webcomics + print) and one for literature. I say maybe, because apart from the arts, the other 2 sections hadn't been used in a while at Tomgeeks.

What about an area for new people or games? (Again, not something that happened a lot in the old forums)

What's the rationale for splitting up projects into different types? I guess I'm kind of biased for all together because mine tend not to fall smoothly into a category |'D But I also just don't see what we would gain by splitting it up - on the old Tomgeeks, there'd usually be four or fewer art, writing or comic threads active at a time, so being able to find the threads wouldn't really be an issue.

I need a single thread for what's on my mind. I have things to talk about but they can't be properly split between the two. They occupy both spaces simultaneously leaving me in a state of troubling duality. Which incidentally relates to what's on my mind otherwise, but that's another matter.

..So how about a single category for a mega What's on your mind thread?
I remember sometimes there'd be 2 ongoing threads in the General area: the What's on your mind and another thread usually about dreams or music or pictures. It was very annoying because then I'd have to click twice instead of once to figure out what people were talking about. [/sarcasm]
That said, I would not be entirely oppose to a single category for a really long What's on your mind thread. That 1000+ page conversation is like a landmark of the ol' Tomgeeks forum.

I also would not oppose a monster "random thoughts" category. Also, a category with only one thread (or three, if we keep the love/hate ones in there too) would be kinda funny.

I second (or third or fourth) a giant lumbering megathread of what's on everyone's mind. I like those threads ;D

It would also be really awesome if there were an easier way to tell which threads have unread posts. The way it is now, it looks like all the threads with only very old posts are pale colored, but the ones with recent posts can be either pale or dark. And there are threads with no new posts higher on the list than ones that don't have new posts. (Which is probably because they're stickies, but some sort of visual dividing line between sticky and non-sticky would be nice to have.)
Mainly I just want to be able to see where the new posts are at a glance, without having to read the timestamps. Same with the front page's list of forums - I think dark link always means new posts and light link always means no new posts there, but I'm not entirely sure that's correct.

I actually get a little "new" graphic in front of thread titles that have new posts I haven't seen...

Wait... the Things with wich we tinker is an everybody art/webcomics/lit??? Cause when I looked in it honestly I thought it was for the forums webcomics so didn't even think of using it... It that's what we are talking and we already have one that covers all of them... I vote we leave it as is until it gets to a point where there are just too many active threads in various mediums and splitting them will help make it easier to follow (which may very well be never)

okay I'll do some tinkering. Whomever first has a thought can make a "whats on your mind" thread! XD
edit, oh hang on wait, stu is still primary admin... I have to go get some privileges from him XD
EDIT AGAIN: Okay i have gone with the following topics(only with better names) "Stuff footloosecomics made" "Stuff you made" and "stuff you are enjoying" I think that covers any crossover- whilst giving you the option to completely ignore me and ally's creations should you wish XD
