...Yeah. Dan and An, that turn-away-looking-guilty thing? Totally the worst possible move to make at that point, especially since it's not what it looks like. Actually I'm not even sure what it looks like, but it wasn't anything bad, so don't react that way, dammit!

See, Keti, this is why you don't talk to the voices in your head, even if they do look like they're sitting on your shoulder instead.
And in other news, what the heck? Isn't that the room she just came out of? Why are there explosions going on in the inn?

You've never had a cooking explosion before? =^-^=
I must admit, I'm curious as to if Keti's sprites are going to get the Reveal, or if the Explosive Situation they're in will allow Keti to dodge the explanatory bullet. =^-^=

You've never had a cooking explosion before? =^-^= I can quite happily say that I have not. If I'm cooking something, the last thing I want happening is an explosion.

Lots of things can cause an explosion in a kitchen. A dropped bag of flour and a spark can create a small fuel-air bomb. For that matter, so can sugar, though you'd need powdered sugar for that and I doubt they have that in the kitchen.
While I'm likely wrong about the explosion's source (with it either being Team B or an attack), given the state of the Kitchen previously seen and the state of the Inn as a whole... I'm betting on a kitchen mishap. ^^;;

this weeks hot topic! : Does shoulder-Dan have Awesome telekinetic Powers? Or is he a giant liar and a figment of Keti's imagination?

Well, that is the question, isn't it? After all, Keti has latent magical abilities from her fae fourth. That suggests then that Kaeti may very well be able to cast spells, though I'm unsure if she's realized this.
The Sprites (sDaniel and sJin) may be able to manipulate events as a result, especially as they're fragments of Keti's subconscious made manifest.
The Sprites are also a tad worrisome. The last person I knew to have shoulder sprites was Dave over at Narbonic, and he became a Mad Scientist. We better keep Keti away from alchemical supplies lest she become a Mad Alchemist. =^-^=

Well, I suppose that does depend on the will of the Creatrixes. They can, on a whim, decide that even a full Fae isn't getting the spells desired. And Magical Girls/Steve have magic despite being human.
The question thus is: do all fae have magical abilities? Even if many haven't trained in them? If yes, then Keti would have the potential toward magic, even if she never trained it... and this would allow her subconscious aspects the ability to manipulate reality through her own talent. If not? Then sDaniel is a lying git who is taking advantage of the fact that Inn is so shoddy their electronics blow up when the news is on. =^-^=

all faeries have magic, it's part of their nature. they have 3 levels of learning (it's in the infodump) An is the exception having skived off the higher ASS level classes, all *good* faeries have their full spelling qualifications, as it's tied into their designation. An is technically an illegal spellcaster and ought to be sporting one of those fetching 'L' armbands. No one really knows what Keti's capable of- she's not just a genetic mix, Primary Protagonist syndrome means she's liable to spontaneously develop new skills and abilities as required. So the next question to ask would be, if she manifested an explosion as a plot-based character development, what purpose did it serve except to distract people from her? and distraction AWAY from the protagonist doesn't seem like a very plotly thing to happen, does it?

Actually, yes. It is. Because self-discovery starts within. Having to air and reveal your "issues" to the people you love, especially this early in the game, is contrary to that. Thus the explosion. Keti is allowed to hide being "mental" and also begin to learn more about these aspects of herself; I suspect she might actually ask "wee Daniel" about who and what he is... and she might not like the answers. But they're important, as is her asking.

Bravo, Ally and Emily! The two of you have managed to take Sparkle, who started out as the Queen Bitch, and start to evolve her into a character you can feel sympathy for. Yet at the same time, she retains that spark of snarkiness and headstrong independence that had her running roughshod over the School of Marketable Magic.
I mean, you can SEE how much it tears her up to "give up" and call for outside help. And that twist at the end? With her having Daniel's number still on her phone? (Calling him "wolf boy" at that... you know, if it was "dog-boy" or "dog-breath" then it would be an insult. But "wolf boy" seems almost like a secretly-positive and even affectionate nickname.)
I just hope Jin hasn't destroyed Daniel's phone yet. ^^;;

(Calling him "wolf boy" at that... you know, if it was "dog-boy" or "dog-breath" then it would be an insult. But "wolf boy" seems almost like a secretly-positive and even affectionate nickname.) I can see those other two as insults, but Wolf Boy didn't seem particularly positive either to me when I read the strip. Sparkle's doing better than I expected when I first learned she'd been kidnapped. A pretty girl abducted by pirates generally would generally only have a very short life of being repeatedly raped to look forward to, but Sparkle hasn't shown any of the signs I'd expect from that sort of treatment. Perhaps the female pirates keep the males in line about that sort of thing. Anyway. The fact that she still has the phone but hasn't called for help yet is kind of admirable, in a stubbornly stupid kind of way. She didn't go crying for mommy to rescue her the instant things went wrong. She's been sticking through things and trying to get away on her own. Not very smart, and some of it's probably due to her nature as a snob, but still she's less of a coward than I'd expect from a bully like her. So... is there hope that Sparkle might actually make progress towards NOT being a stuck-up bitch all the time?

One thing I've noticed is that if you take a woman that you'd call a "bitch" and switch genders, the vast majority of those "bitch" traits end up being "admirable" in a man. This is not to say Sparkle is just misunderstood, mind you; she treats people very poorly and uses people instead of treating them with any respect. But she is also a strong-willed teenage girl who is fairly self-reliant. Heck, I almost wonder if part of the reason she's as horrid as she is is because the teacher for Marketable Magic is worthless. (Ally, Emily, I've a female heroine who I'd gladly allow sub and who would probably teach those girls how to be decent magical girls. Though she will probably grumble if I shanghai her into this as well. Heh heh heh.)
As for insults go? Wolf boy is as weaksauce an insult as you can get. That's like calling a smart girl "nerd girl" or the like. Sparkle doesn't seem the type to pull her punches. Thus her "insult" toward Daniel? It is very likely as positive as Sparkle can get.
The cynic in me just spoke up, though, suggesting that Sparkle used "Wolf boy" as her "pet name" for Daniel when she was dating him, claiming it's a cute nickname when in fact she was insulting him to his face every time she called him that. But then, the inner cynic is a bastard at times. No faith in humanity. ^^;;
