Damn I love Mai-HIME...starts off as a fun high-school comedy/action drama, and then - ANGST! DEATH! INSANITY! All the things guarenteed to make me happy. ;D

DEATH! INSANITY!" quota.

Yup. And...is it 23 or 24? I can't remember...but I know I ended it thinking "Jesus, how many more hits can Mai take?"

That'd be 24.
I love her little "wander around in a daze" reaction to death. It's like her trademark or something. >_>

Just finished watching it...I didn't even mind the super-super-happy-fun ending, since we'd already had a good helping of trauma.
On the whole, that was a bloody good series - slightly too much fan service, but eh, it's certainly not the worst culprit as far as that's concerned.

Hell, its level of fan service has nothing compared to the majority of stuff that, for instance, GAINAX puts out. Take Abenobashi for example.
The super-super-happy-fun ending is so laughably super-super-happy that I can't really hold it against it. It's like they're intentionally out to make a parody of themselves.
Which, with Mai-HiME/Otome, they do so regularly anyway. >_>

Exactly, that was what I meant. The fan service wasn't subtle, but there wasn't so overly much of it that I was thinking "For God's sake..."

let me get this straight. I'd watch it if I could be bothered. I'm sure its great. But I have more important things to do.

Eh, that's an improvement anyway.

The weird thing is, after reading Kuro's 'Condensed Yasha' and having a bit of a Mai-HIME marathon these past couple of days, I now have plans to write a 'Condensed HIME'...

Sorry, an entirely different concept popped into my head. It was chibi and dangerously hyperactive. ¬_¬ What are these things, like Reduced Shakespeare type stuff? How long are they?

Yeah, I had the same thought when I first read it... Here's the link for ya: ear-tweak.com/index.htmAnd a little preview... SESSHOUMARU: Jealous of you? Ha. Don't make me laugh. I'm taller, more handsome, have better fashion sense, AND I look good in makeup. KAGOME: Oh yeah? Well HE has cute puppy-ears! See? *tweak tweak* INUYASHA: Don't even go there. SESSHOUMARU: No, no... she has a point. Those ears are girl magnets. I wish I could say the same of my fluff, but it just serves to confuse everyone. Not to mention I only have one arm...

Ah, the thumbnail things. I've seen those done for Nadesico and Escaflowne. Basically reducing the plot to random jokes and mocking. And repeated use of the phrase "Whatever."
I had most of LoS1 written up in an entirely similar fashion, until I got to chapter 7 and forgot exactly what happened next. >_>

Thing is, I can't read Inuyasha now without picking up on some of the things she noticed...like the way Naraku always refers to himself as "I, Naraku."

Always the way. If interested, Escaflowne Thumbnail Theatre: amethyst-angel.com/escathumbnail_main.html...although it's meant to be indepth rather than a humourously quick summary, and as such is far, far more lame.

They do, however, work far better when they're summing up major plot points in each sentence, rather than summing up...sentences...with each sentence...basically just being more crass about it.

Finished reading it last night...yeah, he/she makes some good points, but I think towards the end they were just writing it as they watched the episodes and taking the piss word-for-word. All in all, quite entertaining though.
I feel like watching Escaflowne now...*pokepoke* Em, do you still have it? Can I borrow?

Its in london.
'condensed yasha' says to me that she'd be tiny, and you'd put her in a tin, then UNLEASH HER ON YOUR FOES!!!! and she'd chibi them to death with hyperactivity.

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, I hope this new torrent of the Fullmetal Alchemist movie is a DVD rip and not another incomprehensible cinema filming. I've been waiting to see this for more than half a year. >_<
Edit: Yay, yay, yay! ^_^
