Here's another two I've gotten into...
The Wotch: www.thewotch.com
I've been reading this for a while now - dunno why I haven't posted about it before - anyway, it's a Buffy-esque story of a girl, Anne, who has been chosen to be this generation's "Wotch" (like a witch, but more powerful) and her two friends, Robin (the love interest) and Jason (the wonderfully sarcastic comic relief), who are the only people who know her true identity.
The art's very simplistic (even a little amateurish towards the beginning) but the story, despite not having a very original set-up, is a lot of fun. It references/borrows a lot from Buffy, computer games, fantasy film and literature, pop culture - but it's completely aware of this, and makes fun of it as much as possible. It avoids sinking into stereotypes most of the time (for example, instead of using the boy-turns-into-a-girl ploy in exactly the same way as 90% of other webcomics do, it makes it into a running gag - Anne's favourite method of punishing Robin and Jason is to turn them into girls (Jason in particular is now so used to this that the transformation doesn't even make him look up from his comic book).
My only criticisms would be: it's perhaps a little too PG (Anne in particular can get very wholesome), and they do seem to have followed the "with great power comes great responsibility" route. But in general, very imaginative, well written, lots of fun.
Least I Could Do www.leasticoulddo.com
This webcomic is all about a guy called Rayne. Rayne is obsessed with sex. Rayne, unlike his flatmates, gets lots of sex, and brags about it a lot. This comic is incredibly chauvinistic, and yet, somehow, I find it really funny. (Maybe because the sexism is clearly so tongue-in-cheek). I could do without all the fat jokes. I couldn't do without the urchin. Or the llama!
Definitely not PG, often repetitive, sometimes offensive - and the artist keeps changing, which can get annoying - but still worth a read. Besides, some of it could have been written by Stu - for example:
Issa (Rayne's stunningly attractive female best friend): I am NOT going to date a woman for you!
Rayne: Every time you say that an angel loses its wings! And then implodes!
