Is it just me (& my Dad as he's also weird & whinges about this too), or does everyone get annoyed when people decide that when they write words ending in "isation" (e.g. globalisation) they are going to suddenly become evil & American & replace the s with a z*instead (e.g. globalization) ?
* = which is pronounce "zed" not "zee"
Also, whilst I'm at it, your & you're mean different things - I'm sure you can work out when to use which one if you think about it! The same goes for there, their & they're
Okay, rant over; now it's your turn. . .

I get pretty pissed off by the over-use of apostraphes by everyone. I even wrote to Morrison's and Tesco's about it. So now I tend to miss out apostraphes if im too lazy to type properly (along with capital letters). i just think im doing my bit to even out the inappropriate use of apostraphes. dammit the balance is all wrong and eveness will never be achieved!! and, as a side, i really dont like lined paper. squared is so much better and makes the work look neater. i think i have some neatness issues but untidyness is excessively pissing me off. i felt so angry when i saw this guy just scribbling something down on a scrap piece of paper during a tutorial. dammit! how can u learn from messiness- it makes your brain disordered! i need order. i think im having a really bad phase of OCD.

I almost hate to point this out...but I don't think you should have put apostrophies when you wrote Morrisons and Tescos, since there are no letters missed out, and it's not possessive.
And the amount of times I've had to change there/they're/their when editing D'Spring episodes...*sigh*.
Perculiarly enough, if you look up a word with the z/s issue in the dictionary, it says...
Civilization n. (also -isation)
Typical Oxford English Dictionary...never clear about anything. ¬_¬

When people mix up "its" and "it's" it takes them one step closer to the grave in my eyes.

yes Tim you have had to edit the way i use the words there their and they're but the important thing is that i do know the difference between them and am just lazy unlike other people.

I still don't understand how that kind of mistyping could be caused by laziness...

Stu's just trying to cover up for his true idiocy! Also, Pat, I agree about the annoying over-use of apostrophies

Actually, I think you'll find that they ARE possessive. I meant it as ' I wrote to Morrison's and Tesco's (supermarket).' Just the same as I'd write 'ooh, today I'm going round to Dan's (house)'. I'm about 80% sure that I'm right, but if anyone can check, I'd be chuffed.

Hmm, perhaps perhaps.
But unfortunately I don't know where one could check, and I probably wouldn't that bothered even if I did.

More importantly Tim, did that toddler get hurt on your lil video thing? If it did, then that's pretty morbid. Argh... and why perhaps? Admit to wanting to just pick on every single thing I ever say to prove me wrong. Maybe you ARE a closet med student after all!!!

I don't pick on *every*thing...
...Just the ones where there's a possibility you might be contradicting yourself in the very same sentence. ¬_¬
And I don't the kid got hurt - I mean look at him. All he did was fall backwards into a sitting down position, which he probably does every time he walks more than a couple of feet anyway.

I think Tesco shouldn't actually ever be refered to as Tesco's or Tescos since it is not a name (as far as I know) unlike Morrisson's and Sainsbury's. The shops just say Tesco on the front. But then again, people are idiots.

Personally, I've always found it impossible to say 'I'm going to Tesco' because to me it sounds wrong. But bear in mind I was raised in Bletchley and actually got 50% on a Chav test.

The only issue here is the slow death of English grammar. And yes, we do have better things to do with our lives, don't you? If you do, then surely you'd be busy enough not to be getting angry by this discussion. Also note the title 'random rants'.
