I don't think that'll help that much. The Channel 4 adverts promise answers. They liiiieeee. I do however love the advert that says "if there was a metaphor for how we all felt at the end of Lost series 1, perhaps this shaft would fit well", or words to that effect.

Verily did the Watkins-Brady sisters pray at the alter of Lost. And Lost was seen upon the screens of many, and the people did rejoice and get confused...

A-HAH!
I'm guessing nuclear bunker? Some kind of weapon, anyway, probably left over from the Cold War by the age of the computers...and when Desmond was talking about people getting sick, that might have meant radiation poisoning, or a biological weapon...

yay i saw it afterall as it turns out her bloke left hours ago and she'd just been sleeping since then. seriously though, i realise the numbers have some significance we dont understand yet, but typing them into the computer every 108 minutes compulsivley, when you have no idea why?would you do it?

Well, if you believed that nuclear warheads/other nasty weapons were going to launch if you didn't, then that would be a pretty good reason...
Besides, you get a cushy little set-up. Books, food, exercise bike, no rent...

Well I did say "or some other kind of weapon". Nuclear was just the first thing that sprang to mind because everything looks so 60s.

but the video didnt actually mention a weapon at all! it just said he had to keep pressing the buttons. atleast the dharma initiative or whatever it was called explains the polar bears presence

I still think walt invented the polar bear because he's magic. I mean, weird bunker or not, Its still a kooky ilsand full of mystery... i mean we've still got visions and prophetic dreams, hurley's unlucky numbers, invisible machines, the others, et c... and i reckon some bad shit went down with the people from the tail end of the plane, I think we get to hear their story next time...
the dhama initiative seems pretty much like it meant well, and something went wrong, I don't think they were building weapons...

well it said they were doing experiments in various things including psychology (explaining why they might be trying to wig out the island inhabitants and possibly why the took walt), zoology (explaining th creatures that shouldnt be there). and if they are doing electromgnetic stuff it may explain why no-one's found them yet, the island may be giving off confusing signals etc...

doesn't explain the numbers
|
|
|
Post by Lu on May 13, 2006 11:38:08 GMT
the fact that no-one understands the numbers creates a sense of fear of them, a very useful control tool

interesting. what if all hurleys bad luck was coincidence and he just associated the numbers with it. i mean its not like anything particularly unlucky has happened to him scince he's been on the island. But the numbers do originate FROM the Island in the first place...
