I ummed and aaahed over the colours quite a bit. It's the first time I've coloured her, and I knew she should be green. The friend we based her on had strawberry blonde hair though and her fave colour is purple so i had a hard time choosing colours that weren't too garish. Still not sure about the yellow-green on the sleeves and skirt.

It works - and bright colours are piratical, anyway

She looks very pretty. I really like her outfit. That smile on her face probably bodes ill for our heroes, however.

so have you based all of the secondary and/or tertiary characters on friends of yours?

Several of them are, but much more the tertiary rather than the secondary characters. Some of them are the kids of older characters who were based on real people. But I think the vast majority of characters who are important to the plot in any way tend not to be based on people.
I, for example, am merely a sarcastic electronic box.

Yup, the majority of friends featured in Footloose are veterans of Inubuyakasha, which was written when we were at school. There are cameos from uni/other post-school friends, but most of the secondary characters (for example, all the magical girls, all the IW students, some of the mecha students and some of the Kung Shoe students) are made up.
Some characters based on real people have defied the cameo rule and become key to the plot, however - case in point being Kitty, who was based on Animae as a thank-you for the idea of pirate faeries.

heh, she weaseled her way into the main plot. very piratical. Sounds like she's suited to the role. Although right now I'm giving her character about 50/50 odds of getting killed. Death is a significant hazard for villains, enough that I suspect they have a hard time getting life insurance. Normally the odds of death are much higher, but Kitty's not exactly a standard villain. She's more chaotic than evil, so there's less need for some sort of climactic battle where the great evil one is destroyed once and for all etc. Not to mention her crew seems far more organized and effective than the current band of rescuers. Any sort of frontal assault by the students would go poorly, as would any semi-obvious attempts at sneakery. It will probably take something completely wild and unexpected to have any chance of taking Kitty by surprise and getting the sword and wench back.

You forget: this is Faerie. Unless cold iron is used in the killing, death is not permanent.
Besides, it's more fun when the villain can come back later on. =^-^=

But whatever Jimmy does, he should NOT have sex with any of his cute female compatriots! Otherwise he is DOOMED! DOOMED, I say!
Which reminds me, I need a vic- er, I mean test subject for the Comedic Sex Change Beam. *eyes Jimmy* Hmm. They do say that innocent virgin girls are most likely to survive in stories... heh heh heh.

i can agree with you on the tequila, but i don't much care for gin, myself. usually more likely to have flavored vodka. yeah... tequila and flavored vodka, what a horrible combination if put together in the same cup.
