I have some friends nearby but like I said, they work and aren't availiable at a moment's notice.
I have a good friend I've been sort of avoiding for a few months, I kind of withdrew from a few friends for various reasons but I've made plans to meet with her this weekend.
Careful with your invitations Emily, you'll get up one morning and I'll be on your doorstep with a suitcase.

Did they back down?
I have some family drama going on at the moment. It's all very annoying and could have been avoided quite easily.

eventually after much victim-blamey behaviour that I refused to pander to, and being accused of harrassment and threats (thats what happens when you break the law, people come and harrass you) they eventually backed down. they will hate me forever but I made the point. whats your drama?

I won't go in to all the details but it could all have been avoided if certain family members had been sensible. But they weren't sensible. And then there was an argument over their lack of sensibility.
It's all okay in my house though, it was a family argument and everyone in my house is on the same side, so it's not that bad. We haven't actually heard anything about it in a few days.

I hate it when people get all judgey about other people's music tastes, even when it's not directed at me. A friend of mine who's very into music was disparaging people who listen to pop radio and I was just like, nyeeergh

I'm sorry about that, Zam. If you're down, let yourself be down. Being 17 doesn't mean that things that happen to you are not important. The fact that you'd have probably not... married this girl doesn't mean that it isn't important now. Though, yeah, you'll probably get over it! It may take a while, though. Just, don't feel bad about feeling bad... I know I sound like a parrot reapeating that, but it's something I feel is important. This is very, very true. (Now that I think about it, it's kinda terrible how it feels like things are just starting to get serious at around your age (or at least that's how it felt for me?), but people don't really take teenagers' problems seriously.) Other than that, have you ever talked to someone who seemed to actually be knowledgeable about things that you are fairly passionate about but then they start partly bragging about things that are actually kinda childish and silly if you were actually knowledgeable about it and also say things that you know are straight up incorrect and you realize they don't know near as much as they think they do. Then they start spreading incorrect information to everyone else and you can't correct them because everyone will think you are wrong? Don't be that guy. That guy guy leaves me quite annoyed. (For the record, AMD never bought Cyrix, Windows RT does NOT run on Atom processors, and bragging about World or Warcraft running at 300-400 FPS on your quad graphics card computer just tells me you have a lot more money than sense.) That sounds... really, really annoying. I'm lucky enough not to know that guy, but there is a guy at work who thinks he knows a lot (just enough to be slightly annoying about it), and is very sure that it's not possible to have a dual boot of Windows and Linux share a data partition. I'm not very good with systems stuff, but I need Ubuntu for a project, so I'm gonna try to prove him wrong while I'm at it. I hate it when people get all judgey about other people's music tastes, even when it's not directed at me. A friend of mine who's very into music was disparaging people who listen to pop radio and I was just like, nyeeergh I never understood why people thought that mattered >.<

Deviant Art now tells me to upgrade my browser to access it. Problem is the new version of Opera is now a half-baked Chrome knockoff. I hate Chrome. I find it ugly, incapable, and generally abhorrent. Among current browsers, ALL of them are now missing a lot of functionality that I use in a constant fashion on my now out of date version of Opera. There are no plug-ins and add-ons in existence to fill the functionality I now demand in my browser. These things just aren't allowed to do what I'd need them to do.

Ugh, it sucks when things force you to upgrade them into stuff you don't want at all. I didn't particularly like MSN (I actually quite hated it), but I have a friend I haven't been able to talk ever since the thing forced to migrate into skype.

Hmmmm...You shouldn't have to change browsers if you don't want to.
Other than that...I kind of really like Chrome. It's squishy tabs. I "feel" like it loads faster, but sometimes crashes. Firefox is the other one I usually use, but it's visually a bit more clunky. In term of web developer stuff, my Chrome doesn't support some JavaScript functions I like, so I do more testing in Firefox. Firefox also has the 3D view which is relatively cooler than not having it. But in Chrome you can rewrite html loaded in the browser. Hmmm...
What are your functions that you usually use?

Mostly a highly customized interface. It's hard to find browsers I can casually remove most of it and just use mouse gestures and keyboard shortcuts for things including stuff like opening developer tools for the current page, disabling images or plugins, viewing page source, toggling tooltips on and off, emptying the cache, validating a page...lots of little added shortcuts. And I like heavier themes that can resize things and generally completely reform the interface. I like a highly minimalist setup. As such I dislike the full tab interfaces for things like downloads and history. For some reason it just irks me when things take up a whole screen to do something that can be done just fine in a small window. I don't see a reason to be visually pulled away from the page I was just viewing to check downloads. Chrome's interface to me feels bulky and pointlessly bubbly.
Oh and I use a Windows classic theme which Chrome won't cater to. Hence why it's bubbly. And the knock-off of Opera's speed dial would need to be changed in Chrome. It likes to show frequently used sites, but that never really matches the sites I actually want there. And I like to be able to close ALL the tabs without the browser closing or auto opening a new tab. It feels weird to me when I can't close the last tab. And I can create custom search keys for doing searches in my address bar in a way that makes more sense to me than Chrome's way of doing things.
I changed my menus around too. And made a custom interface for my bookmarks. I could probably replace the ability to apply custom CSS and javascript to different pages with plug-ins I guess, but that's a thing I got and use.
Blah. That's enough chatter about it. I probably only scratched the surface, but the point is I've gotten really picky about my interface. I figure Google is a bit like Apple and try to build an experience. Except I've said before and will say again: I don't experience my PC, it experiences me. In terms of the interface, I interact with my main browser a lot more than anything else on my computer including the OS itself so I don't like to compromise on that.
So anyway enough ranting about that. Oh and I rarely use skype. I run MSN through pidgin and haven't actually been kicked off the MSN service. I'm not actually sure what's been going on with that for sure.

Well, I can see you have a lot of important things you need. I guess Chrome doesn't do all that, but hopefully one day your ideal browser will come back. ; )
I used to use skype a lot, but nowadays usually I use Google Hangouts. The quality seems a bit lower, but at least then my laptop stops making I'm-stressed-type sounds.

Bluh. Seriously youtube what is with these really awful recommended videos? How does watching videos with some weird catbug thing or listening to remixes of video game music constitute putting...Miley Cyrus? up there? I had to try like 12 times to spell that name right. I'd just ignore it but it's like some ever-present scar that just won't go away. It's always there after every video and I don't know why. So I blame Google. Again.
Also, Skype made your computer stress out? No computer I've ever used has had the slightest problem with skype including some that are literally 10 years old. Google Hangouts perpetually threatens to crash my browser. Your statement is very strange to me. I guess I haven't used either thing much and have a hatred for laptops which is probably what you have that's sounding stressed.
Tune in next time while I rant about *spins wheel of google products* ...gmail? Oh don't get me started...

I imagine that youtube uses a complicated algorithm weighing popular videos with ...uh...association...recommendation?; so, like, a lot of people who watch video X also watch video Y. So if you watch video X, chances are you'll probably go see video Y now. Let's put that there in your sidebar. Also Miley Cyrus. Hmmm...Truthfully, I do not like how she's singing about drugs now. It's a bit petty, (ok it's really petty) but I mean I was never a Miley Cyrus fan. Maybe this is an attempt to distance herself from her child persona, but surely there are other adult activities to sing about? Like doing taxes or talking about unemployment of people who are and aren't over-qualified for jobs.
And yes my computer is weird. It also has trouble playing some neopet games, which is clearly why my sister always wins. You have my permission to rant about Gmail. But I will still use it! Mwhahaha! XD

And you just spouted more than I ever knew about Miley Cyrus. Suddenly I'm kind of happy to know so little. Hmmm. Was she one of those child actors on like nickelodeon or disney or something? Because I have a niece who basically idolizes a bunch of those girls from those shows and it makes me very sad because she's basically learning to be a brat and a bully partly from that. A lot of those shows have those younger actors playing horrible characters that are actually pretty awful role models. And the acting is intentionally campy which probably kind of stops them from being able to practice more legitimate acting skills so I can definitely imagine how they'd grow up and get frustrated due to being trapped in an an old awful kiddie role.
As for Gmail...well mostly it's just another case of me not liking Google's interfaces again. Are folders too much to ask for? Really? Google is just another Apple. Another company that assumes users are dumb and tries to limit their control and direct their usage experience which is really the core of what I hate. It's about my old mantra thing: "I don't experience my computer, my computer experiences me." Except they go a step farther and feel the need to reinvent old things that already work totally fine. This pretty much never actually makes it any better. Like taking away folders in an email system. Or reinventing email attachments to use the "cloud" (google drive) for no apparent reason.

I've heard complaints of how shows for little girls often create bully-ish or "Only Me!" behaviour. It makes me come to appreciate MLP:FIM, which despite flaws and sometimes crazed fans, attempts to show how to be a good friend.
Hmmm...But does not Gmail contain a colour-coded label function in which you can "label" emails & archive them effectively moving them into different folders?
