I think it's got the right contrast ratio actually to be easy to read without being too bright and iritating on the eyes. Heathcliffe sorta made me want to gouge out my eyes (both versions of it)

I'm trying Pale Test #1 and making localized changes as I feel it has promise but is still a bit off. For now I've lightend up some background colors more to increase contrast. Maybe I'll post a screenshot and provide some color codes when I'm happy with it.

Well I think I'm mostly pleased with this other than I still get some rollover effects that mess colors up with javascript but it looks a bit like this for me now: link 1link 2link 3I looks like this all the time for me because I have a nice addon that can save css changes for sites. I'm tempted give footloose-green a similar treatment. EDIT: For any code-monkeys these are my css changes: .windowbg, .windowbg2, .welcomebg { background-color: #E2EAF4; }
.code, .quote { background-color: #DAE2EC; }
.catbg { border: 1px solid #E2EAF4; background-color: #58708C; }
.catbg a:link { color: #E2EAF4; }
.catbg a:hover { color: #D2DAE4; }
.cattext { color: #E2EAF4; }

I want the default theme to be something involving green, then it will tie in with the main website- but also with the tomgeeks theme. if anyone wants to come up with some ideas around that, it'd be cool.

@x: I like it! It's very much like Pale #1, but but slightly less sleepy while still calming.
@em: The problem with combining the Tomgeeks and Footloose colours is that they clash a bit when put together (...right? Artistic people back me up?!). So do you mean something that follows the Tomgeeks colours (forums or main page) or something that follows the current default theme for your forums...but slightly less...uh...off putting?

Hmm. Very well then... link1link2link3link4I had to get into attribute selectors with this one! CSS-Fu +1.

...Nice! However, I'm detecting slight clashy vibes between the background green and the foreground green. And the foreground green alone might need something complementary to even it out (old forums had blue/grey).
(It seems to be my job to be really nitpicky while being vague on suggestions. Maybe someone with a better grasp of colour theory could provide?)

Meh. I just tried combining footloose green and tomgeeks greens together to make something and see how it'd look.
Footloose green is a flat green, tomgeeks greens have a bit more red to them. Honestly I feel like I should width-lock this forum like tomgeeks as well. These stretchy pages always feel odd to me.

really like 6 or seven from your list... what do folks think?

I don't know if 6 would work well for a forum and 7 is more of a brown set I think. Also I'm not sure why you call them "tomgeeks" green? These greens don't match and aren't actually even that close to either the old TG forum or the homepage greens. It's not important, but I'm just a little confused about the labeling. Either way I tried to play with the colors in 7 and got something like this: < LINK> I didn't manage to do much with that "prince" color. It just didn't seem to fit with what I was doing. EDIT: I don't know how the color scheme system works with proboards so these are probably things you can't exactly duplicate even if you wanted to, but I'm kinda having fun messing around with this stuff. Do what you like since apparently I'll just be customizing it on my end anyway.

I think 6 would work if you added some neutrals, like a dark gray. It really depends which parts of the forum you use the colours for~
And yeah they're not the exact same as the official TG green, but they're closest to the background color in my visual memory~ Of course, even placing the exact same green next to other colours will change it slightly...
Well, whatever works! xD

Not gonna lie though, I'm actually digging this beige/greenish thing a little. I'll probably keep trying different things anyway.
