It makes sense. It never dawned on me that there should still be bodies or an open flame or anything. It wasn't that I thought they had left that room... but that it wasn't needed.
The very atmosphere of the room also makes sense that Steve tried backing out. The hallway was pink. The inner chamber was red with the central flame. So it's obvious in hindsight if you worry about that sort of thing. ^^

Mmm, blue. At least that's one page that won't be flooded in pink.

the first chapter is pretty pink because it's all taking place in magical girl space, which is unnaturally pastellic and girly. chapter 2 will see a mostly normal colour spectrum resumed.
EDIT. incentive. good plan. will do now.

It reminded me of the Warhammer 40K Sisters of Battle army I was going to paint; I was going with pastel pink armor, pastel blue cloth, and light yellow guns. My hope was that the paint scheme would be so horrific that the other players would ignore tactics in preference to trying to wipe them out with one massive assault, and thus allow my own tactics to prevail. ^^
I couldn't paint more than five models. It was too horrifying. ^^;;
I'm thinking of more of a shock-pink and a deeper blue for the armor and cloth now. It will look more kickass at least. =^-^=

Inviting a mass frontal onslaught seems a typically Cannae-esque route to victory. I hope your flanks have units swift enough to capitalise.
(Be aware that I know nothing of any sort about Warhammer and so any response will likely go over my head.)

Actually, given that the majority of 40K players are kids and/or idiots, you often see massive frontal assaults in any case. Smarter players concentrate firepower on specific units to break them quickly, as spreading your attacks often will have a diminished effect. Well, except from the Pie Plates of Doom (tank artillery uses a "pie plate" template that often annihilates everything under it. Including chicks in power armor. ^^)
Personally I'd be tempted to smuggle in some 40K armor for the ladies in the Mecha school, if only because the guys would whine and find it unfair that the girls get something that works. (Though part of that is the lack of AI running the systems...)

Tsk. As usual, firepower ruins real strategy. Everything just turns in a Kursk-style slogging match.

And so Steve's invited to the Dojo partly because there's nothing else for him outside of Faerie. Which is kind of sad, really. Though I have to wonder how Steve's dad responded to Steve getting an offer to go to Faerie. "Great. My son the fairy is living with the faeries now..." (at which point Flibbage turns him into something amusing. ^^)

Until Sparkle gets her claws into him. Fortunately, I suspect Jin can help straighten him out afterward. =^-^=
(Scare him straight, that is!)

Not sure if we should make a "Chapter 2" for this, but seeing this one has 2 pages... it probably doesn't matter.
Still. The Army? Ah, nice cop-out, Steve. Evading the issue here. =^-^= But then again, the truth would be almost impossible (without outside assistance) to believe.
Nice way to avoid discussion by saying it while leaving. (Though I guess this means Steve had graduated from high school already, so he didn't have to worry about human school...)

most of our cast in the main storyline are supposed to be around the 16-20 mark- I would say Steve is probably a 6th former (currently in british law any education over the age of 16 is non-compulsary) at this point in the story.

Ah, but what's the age before you can join the military? =^-^=
Though when you consider how old fae can get... my word. An is a baby, ain't she? =^-^= Keti's trying to rob the cradle there! =^-^=

You can join the British army from the moment you turn 16 (though you won't be sent out on operations until you're 18).

The fey kind of reach maturity, then continue on indefinately... all the dojo fey are old enough that they have their magical schooling et c, or they wouldn't be there (well except An), but yes in faerie terms they're only just adults. That's another good reason why they aren't quite as canny as some of the grownup fey.
