I was having a conversation about this with tom the other day, but i don't think he really understood what i was talking about. He just kept going on about how Darwinian theory only became popular because 19th century libertines promoted it as an excuse to denounce religion and have promiscuous sex. But that doesn't make it untrue. Plus also he fails to see the difference between creationism and intelligent design because he always interrupts before I can finish explaining it.

but he's been brought up with religion. it's far to late to try and change his beliefs now

So how does he think the world got started if he doesn't believe in either?

having lots of good karma means moderate-seriousl bad things don't happen to you as often. It's not like money where you can use it to buy your way out of bad situations

creationism is the belief that the world was created by God exactly as it is now, and that evolution does not take place.
Intelligent design is the theory that things like the big bang and evolution do happen, but that God exerts some kind of guiding force over the process. so like maybe god didn't like dinosaurs, so he crunched them out with a meteorite and decided to play with mammals instead.
As for Tom's theories, he just believes in looking at the motives behind the theory rather than the theory itself, so I don't know iff he even HAS an opinion on how the world started. after all, it is true that NONE of us were there, thus the question will likely never be answered. After that the conversation moved on to physics and anti matter, and how little anyone actually knows about anything...

That's what makes it great to be human. We are NEVER going to run out of things to do.

surely the earth is due for some apocalytic event, wiping us out and giving another species a go at the top for a while. maybe not nukes though as that seems to ruin stuff for everything. can anything survive extreme radiation?

you know thats no so much true, cockroaches have a high tolerance for radiation, but it would eventually kill them

so if we nuke each other, everything, plants and animals, is fucked?

I guess if we nuked eeeeeeeverything...but hopefully some form of life would adapt around it, and be able to live in a post-nuclear world...
