i dont think its a class system cos chavs can be from any social background all u need to be a chav is a dumb violent person.
And yes the chav - goth/greebo/punk etc. war is coming
of course emo's will either be beaten up by the victor or just used as cannon fodder as they hated by the Goths nearly as much as the chavs

To be honest, all of these social groups (with Chavs, Goths, and Emos being the major ones in play here) are so incredibly vague and ill-defined that it hardly matters anymore. More often than not, the terms are used as labels for any dislikable person that even vaguely falls within said catagories. For instance, wears black clothing = goth; speaks with a certain accent and mannerisms = chav; suffers from generic teenage depression = emo. People might as well just give up and admit that they simply don't like "other people". It would make everything a lot more honest and straightforward. ¬_¬

Now define precisely what this "specific emo type of music rock/metal etc." is. Also, all goths I've ever come across have come across as pretty regular people, and *not* as xenophobic as you suggest ("inherent suspicion"...tsk). The whole thing is damned stupid, though. I've actually had it been said to me "Heh, you're not as emo as you look". Because, you know, given my longish hair and my tendancy to wear simple jeans/black t-shirt combinations that can ease comfortably into the "emo" bracket...not to mention my generally quiet (socially retarded) nature...this sometimes leads people to assume that I write self-depreciating poetry and cut myself at night. Then there's this friend of Emily's called Jo, who at first glance appears Chav-like, but is actually a nice person. Sami's been called a Goth simply for wearing a black dress. The whole thing's just created by people who feel more at ease with themselves if they have someone else to look down upon, blame society's problems for, and just generally enjoy partaking in some leisurely prejudice, because nothing brings people together better than a feeling of mutual hatred. I don't mean to rant, but sometimes these phenomena are so blatent that it's like having the human psyche laid to bare right in front of you. ¬_¬

I'm just waiting for the study that says checking out guys' bums is as good for me as a trip to the gym. Although I usually combine the two.
