Mm, no. Ship's Parrot, yes. But the concept of a Ship's Monkey is an alien one to me. What ship has a monkey?
Of the names in the list, I recognise Bilge Rat, Swab, Ship's Parrot, Laggard, Mercenary, Buccaneer, Pirate and First Mate as ones I recall putting in (plus Captain, which you apparently deleted). I do not recall Ship's Monkey, Wench, Infamous Rapscallion or Pirate Wench as being ones I put there (why do you need two 'wench' ranks anyway?).
Though all of this is moot, of course. In the occasion that you did edit the list you no doubt had to delete/re-enter various existing ranks in different slots in order to shift them around to fit your new ones in. In that process I suspect it to be extremely likely that you'd neglect to enter the apostrophe(s) upon re-entry.

new subject: can we have a colour scheme that isn't eye blaringly yucky?
I like my special green one but you can't read the yellow...

Yeah the yellow problem annoys me too. Unfortunately there's no option in the Admin section to change the colours of admins/moderators/etc.
I'm willing to play with making any new skins if people suggest what colours they'd like. Suggest a main background colour and a heading colour (e.g. light green and dark green, ala the current Footloose one), and I'll try to work something out with it...
I also think I'm going to see if I can shift the green one to default and changed Stu's 'classic' (... >_>) blue abomination to being an alternative, rather than vice versa.

Just to confirm: I have now set 'Footloose Green' to the forum default. The previous default has been renamed to 'Heathcliffe Blue' and is selectable via your profile options.

I'm playing around with a mauvey kind of theme (currently named 'Test' under the choice of skins). At the moment I'm trying to find the right kind of purple to use for the forum/thread names/links (none of them seem to look quite right). Also, although yellow admin names are fine on it, Em's orange moderator name isn't...

Back to the original point the only thing i altered was to change captain to pirate wench thus i did not shift anything around leaving the bad punctuation still firmly in your court.

Well, with a lack of any corroborating evidence available from anywhere, it would seem meaingless to continue this little conjecture any further.

Having just tried the Footloose Green and having my retinas detach, rip their way out of my eyeballs, and flee the screen, I must say... and please excuse my language here... Holy FUCK but that was hideously painful! Gah! I need a drink now.... Um, has anyone seen my eyeballs? They seem to have fled.

If you're attached to Stuart's little 'blue screen of death' creation, then by all means set your profile to that skin and keep your whinging hyperbole to yourself. The point of multiple skins is to provide choice. Alternatively, I suggest you turn down the brightness setting on your monitor. While I'm here, I may as well post up a quick comparison of the three skins as they currently exist, to save people having to go in and out of their profile multiple times. More options are, inevitably, to come.

I'm also on purple, though I'm not certain it's finalised yet. I'll also have to think up a name...one better than 'MEH-13 Mauve' anyway. >_>

It's more that the blue background with white text is easier on the eyes, interestingly enough.
My friend (and former evil overlord) Glych actually chose the colors for Panel2panel specifically because of their ease on the eyes compared to some other choices.

The purple would probably be nicer with lower saturation and the darker colour being even darker (maybe with white text).

I've been poking around with that sort of thing. It's limited to basic html colour codes and hasn't any saturation options or similar, so the only paler options along the mauvy vein are ones that that are more pink (FFCCFF) or more grey (CCCCFF). I'm still going to tweak around with it, but it's tricky.
As for making the dark colours darker, I started off with darker ones but kept making them lighter because they seemed too stark...hmm.
Maybe I just have different tastes in colour contrasts to others. >_>

You can get the full range of colours from the hex codes you use in HTML. Though I guess without access to a proper image editor it's a little hard to use them (though I'm sure free solutions like the Gimp or Paint.net can manage).
c0a4db is a greyer version of the mauve you've got there, for example.
