Sorry, Emily. You'll have to cope with slappy shoes instead of spikey shoes. ^^;;

Woo! The three things I think need to get done in regard to our wedding this May are... 1) Get wedding insurance 2) Contact the Bedford registrar to book the date (even though we have to wait until one year prior to officially 'present ourselves' to them blah blah blah) 3) Get the preliminary guest list sorted out (for eventual sake of "keep this date free" things) The third is the most awkward, mainly because the food/reception/etc. is allowed up to 100, but the room for the ceremony is a strict maximum of 60 (not sure if this includes best men/bridesmaids, will have to check). My current feeling is to prioritise family for this, if only because they're less likely to enjoy any kind of music/dancing/etc. But then, on the other hand, why should I prioritise some relation who I see maybe once every 18 months over friends who I care about more? Sigh...it shall be tricky.

I'm going to hartlepool for the whole weekend. @ tim- on the one hand, friends are more likely to give you gip about not coming to the ceremony... but on the other family are likely to hold stupid grudges that last into future generations. I'd say if you're only allowed 60 ( or 30 each whatevs) then go for immediate family and friends rather than distant relations. don't let you parents invite all their friends no matter what they say.

Shame that you'll be in Hartlepool while I'm up this weekend (primarily to watch the football with Stu on Sunday), but ah well.

I'm clearly used to messier bedrooms, because I thought nothing of it. >_>

I'm not sure why I need to keep updating this thread whenever I do stuff. It would feel a bit weird telling only Yash about it, for some reason.
Contacted the Bedford registrar today and confirmed what it is I'll have to do and when. It can't be done until October 7th of this year, of course. The registrar costs about £400, which to me seems quite a lot for one guy doing 20 minutes' work and a couple of forms to sign, but what do I know. :-p

It's because your friends are here. It lets you keep them up to date... and socialize (in a manner of speaking).

Otherwise you'd have to phone me and stu and tell us, and then we'd have to make small talk and who needs that.

Generally any phone conversation of mine that descends into small talk dies quickly. It's not, shall we say, my forté.

And hark, much upheaval with the venue (due to English Heritage suddenly deciding that they need to spend the whole of autumn 2011 renovating the site) means that the wedding is now about two months closer than was previously planned. October 7th has become August 13th, and we don't even have to pay summer prices for it.
