Emily, I hate to break it to you, but not-completely-broken Shinji is actually a truly awesomesauce character. Case in point, the current NGE movies have a Shinji who isn't nearly the pathetic sap he was in the original NGE and the series is looking damn good from all things I've heard on it. (Of course, Shinji almost brought about the Third Impact to save Rei, but it was still a crowning moment of awesome.) ---------- Fey rocks. And you two ladies did a damn good job with this comic. Bravo.

Emily, I hate to break it to you, but not-completely-broken Shinji is actually a truly awesomesauce character. Already watched the 2 new movies. Loved shinji's little tantrum, and okay he is a LITTLE less pathetic, but he's still a pretty good source of shadenfreude.

Well, trust me when I say Shinji suffers. He goes through hell. But he's a stronger character going into this s##tstorm, and manages to do some truly awesome things. But don't take my word for it. Here: tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/FanFic/ShinjiAndWarhammer40KFrom the first paragraph: As its name suggests, Shinji and Warhammer40k is a Neon Genesis Evangelion Fan Fiction that incorporates elements of everyone's favorite Grim Dark sci-fi setting into brutal Humongous Mecha. Shinji Ikari, the resident Butt Monkey of the Eva series, discovers a case full of Warhammer 40,000 miniatures and rulebooks at a very young age, with a profound effect on his personality, character, and relationship with his guardians. He somehow takes a full 20 levels in badass as a result, becoming a Badass Bookworm Magnificent Bastard who knows no fear, charges headlong into combat without hesitation, exhibits nearly prescient planning abilities, and earns the reverence and adoration of his people for his heroism. In the second chapter, he actually arrives in Tokyo-3 and meets his Evangelion.

I cannot see Warhammer having that profound an impact on someone's personality (and yup, I've played it. Only once, but I've known a fair few people who are very into it - and the only ones I can see charging into battle are also re-enactors, which may have a little more to do with it ;D)

I suspect from the first chapter, the imaginary friends he "created" based on the models gave him the ability to stand up to being bullied (he headbutts one bully while giving out an Ork "waaauuugh" and basically gets the bullies to work for him as protectors of the weak afterward), which allowed him to create some friendships and not be a male shrinking violet as a result. Though it's been a while since I read the story so I'm not sure how accurate my memory is. I'm fairly certain that's how he got the allegiance of the "Boyz"
Though I suppose considering how often I wanted to smack Shinji upside the head and tell him to grow a backbone, especially when he backslides on confidence after taking out some fairly nasty entities, my interest in seeing a Shinji who has some genre savvyness and the ability to stand up to (and outsmart) his father is probably evident. ^^;;
That, and I loved the TV Tropes page write-up. ^_^

11_14... it's generi-babble infodump timezzzzzzzz! XD I love FEY, so much. I went back and re-read IBYKS volume 8 to hone up on her mannerisms- believe it or not, trying to work out how much an A.I would move and gesture whilst talking was a serious undertaking, so i had to work out how "organic" she is. Looking back, I realised the answer is "not very". She speaks in a very stilted manner, even compared to the other A.I in IBYKS- probably because she is the youngest and hasn't had time to learn by interacting as much as the other two. she does try to learn from Flib, but doesn't succeed hugely. She also swiped Flib out of danger (an A.I will cease functioning if it's DNA source is killed) but failed to save anyone else, showing a little streak of disregard for life. she cares about the stability of the plot, but not much else.
I also got inspired by re-reading and had to draw a little sketch of the post apple-grenade explosion landing upside down in a hedge, where Beansprout caves and agrees to marry Yakky. gonna upload it as this weeks vote incentive.

So if i had control of some character in this fiction and burst into that room to murder daniel, an, and jin (even though i love daniel and id get my butt whooped) FEY would use her powers to either destroy me or protect them since there important pieces in this puzzle, correct?

She'd probably first wait to see if those three were competent enough to save themselves, and perhaps nudge the red shirt into the line of fire. =^-^=
Poor Fey. She's not really had much opportunity to "grow up" as it were. She needs more time out and about. ^^

it would depend, if she thought the plot might be furthered by their deaths the THREAT of their deaths she might not intervene. She can't act in a way that counteracts the consistency of the plot without damaging the story which makes it unstable.
