Doesn't the queen technically still have the power to dissolve parliament and force an election, if she feels that we're being run by idiots, and I mean real idiots not just the usual idiots...
and the reason oyu don't get to learn abouttudor nazis is because the foxes hide the evidence. Thats why people want to hunt foxes, so find their secret HQ and bring down the tudor nazis... Tony Blair banned it because he's a tudor nazi and wants to keep it hush hush.
Thats right, the aristocracy really is on your side, hunting down foxes is all for the common good.

She does have that power, yes. She also has the power to refuse any newly elected PM, or to reject any piece of legislation.
Which is all amusing because, were she ever to actually enact any of these powers, there would be a constitutional crisis and all manner of shit would hit the fan.

Yeah...I think Mr Green said it would almost definitely mean the end of the monarchy. So, pretty much a win-win situation for the rest of us...
On the uni theme, I just got my first essay back - 1 mark off a 2.1! Yay!

she'd have to be absolutely certain that she had the public's backing, otherwise they'd just reelect whoever she didn't like. She can also do this for australia, at least she could, and she did do once, dont know if she still can now,...

Most of my lecturers wouldn't care if you missed one lecture/ tutorial because they believe if you miss a lecture & don't catch up, it's your own problem as it will hinder you in the exam/ essay. It obviously would be an issue picked up by your personal tutor if you keep missing them though - but if you aren't going to lectures, why would you go see your tutor? They didn't think that one through properly...

I'm skipping my poetry seminar tomorrow, because the guy is fucking USELESS. I do NOT need to waste another hour of my life listening to how 'the Victorians had it so much better than us because they all had servants'. I'm fifty years younger than the guy, without all the degrees and PhDs, and I can see the flaw in that argument! Why the hell can't he?! Idiot.

He obviously wants to bring back the slave trade - or at least wishes he was rich enough to have servants

you can still have servants now! You just have to pay them properly, give them a contract, and treat them with respect.

He also argued that being put in a workhouse was better than living in a council house. The guy is talking out of his arse.

you can still have servants now! You just have to pay them properly, give them a contract, and treat them with respect. That's why I said "or was rich enough to have servants"

He also argued that being put in a workhouse was better than living in a council house. The guy is talking out of his arse. how'd he figure that? pretty much unescapable poor nasty conditions and forced to do scabby work vs living in a relatively habitable environment with the opportunity to tell the council to sod off if its really not your cup of tea

Most lecturers are the kind of people who go to university...and then just don't leave, so they start teaching instead.
Like my dad, for instance. >_>
