Ah, but for the hardcore sci-fi types, 'magic' is a cop-out excuse and one to be ignored...regardless of how heavily fantasy/magic-orientated the context.

In fact, I'd wager that some of them have developed mental blindspots where they just don't register any talk about magic.

we even bothered to come up with a plausible excuse- the Fey believe they are fictional, and therefore the standard rules of reality are optional for them. I'm pretty sure they only have wings because it's expected of them- flying is simply ignoring gravity for a while. Iordan could probably fly with a torn wing if he thought about it really hard- but they level of concentration required to defy physics that much would make it hard to fight. plus Generics says can't fly on one wing and generics is the rule.

(super special secret Ally and Em code: Oh Ally- isn't it symbolic about his wing...? Poor Iordan never EVER catches a break :( )

Oh you evil wicked girls... you're taunting me with that snippet of information! Temptresses! You're going to have to rock me to sleep tonight. :P

Perhaps part of the problem is that you don't have blatant magic going on everywhere. Sure, the fae have wings... but that's just how fae are. ^^ No one's tossing fireballs left and right, and almost everyone looks fairly "human" so assumptions get made.

Myself, I just enjoy killing the catgirls. =^-^=

In the dojo, magic is seen as cheating- sure the fae might use magic around each other but they tend to keep it to a minimum because it would give them a massively unfair advantage. Plus the Dojo Fae are young- whilst they aren't still stuck wearing 'L' armbands like the magical girls they aren't experienced spellcasters really.

However the next few chapters see our fae taken out of that environment and out of their usual rule structure- so we're going to be seeing a lot more magic use.

Heh. At first I thought you meant you wanted someone like L in the Deathnote manga. ^^;;

Why not wear an L and then tell people who ask what it's for that you're an apprentice magic learner? Doesn't matter if the magic can't be directly observed now, does it? =^-^=

(I could also probably do a vampire/werewolf armband, as long as you don't mind it being cute and simplistic beyond belief)

His physics analogy works well with a fireball spell, or any other kind of weapon spell... but what about illusions, or mind control spells- or transmogrification, you can't really apply physics to those.
